Man Runs Over Wife, Crashes Into Home

SALISBURY TOWNSHIP, Pa. - Police said an elderly couple was injured in an accident in Salisbury Township, Lehigh County Saturday.

It happened in the 700 block of Barner Street around 12:30p.m.

Police said Robert Schlegel was behind the wheel of his vehicle, when he went in reverse and ran over his wife Patricia. Police said Robert didn't know his wife was walking behind the vehicle at the time.

They said Robert quickly tried to drive forward, and he crashed into a parked car, then into the home at 720 Barner street.

He suffered a head injury, and Patricia suffered serious leg injuries as a result of the accident. Both were taken to St. Luke's Hospital for treatment.

Robert Schlegel was released, and Patricia Shlegel is listed in fair condition, a hospital official tells 69 News.
