Man stabbed to death

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - A man was stabbed to death late Saturday night in Allentown, according to police.

It happened around 11:20 p.m. in the 300 block of Hickory Lane at the Hamilton Square Apartments.

Police charged 46-year-old Hector Luis Gonzalez with criminal homicide. They say he was a resident of the apartment building where the stabbing happened.

Police say the victim's identity is being withheld until family members are notified.

The 36-year-old victim was stabbed multiple times, according to police. The coroner's office says he was pronounced dead at 1:32 a.m. Sunday at Lehigh Valley Hospital.

This isn't the Allentown man's first run-in with the law. According to court records, Gonzalez has been arrested at least five times since 2000-- and has been convicted of simple assault and DUI.

The suspect is being held without bail at Lehigh County Prison.

Authorities are not yet releasing information on a possible motive for the stabbing.

A preliminary hearing is set for October 7.
