Many kid-friendly events set for New Year's Eve

If you haven't planned your final moments of 2013 or your first of 2014, there's still time.

Allentown will celebrate with live performances, kids activities, a fireworks show and a Liberty Bell drop at midnight.

"We want to show what makes us unique, products and then some history with the Liberty Bell," said Michael Stershic, president of Discover Lehigh Valley.

Events will take place on Hamilton Street, between Eighth and Ninth streets, starting at 10 p.m. The event is free. Alcohol is not permitted.

Peepsfest, presented by Just Born and ArtsQuest, will take place at the SteelStacks in Bethlehem.

Activities include a life-sized Coca-Cola ski chalet, animals from the Lehigh Valley Zoo and a Dutch Springs' dog sled team.

Activities start at 10 a.m. and run though 4 p.m. Immediately after, guests are invited to the Levitt Pavilion lawn for a New Year's Eve party, starting with a performance by kid rock band StarFish. An 80-pound Peeps chick will be dropped at 5:15 p.m. and fireworks will follow.

Allentown BrewWorks is hosting a Laugh Out Loud New Year's Eve comedy bash with performances by Denny Live and Lorence Naylor. Doors open at 9 p.m. and the show will begin at 10 p.m.

Tickets can be purchased at the door or by calling Jonna Green at 484-632-3728. Guests must be 21 or over.

Skytop Lodge will host a performance by the Doug Smith Orchestra in the Pine Room from 9 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. Fireworks will take place at 10 p.m. on the south lawn. A balloon drop and countdown will take place at midnight. A buffet will be open in the main dining room between midnight and 2 a.m.

Celebrate the New Year with eight hours of activity at the Boys & Girls Club of Easton.

On Tuesday, club members and parents are invited to join in fun activities spanning from 1-9 p.m. at the club's headquarters located at 210 Jones Houston Way.

The club's final hour will feature community dance time heightened by the Electric Slide and line dancing.

Club Director Dean Young said, "We're all about a safe alternative and fun for the kids but we also want parents to join in as well while experiencing firsthand how their children navigate through game challenges, dancing and good old fashioned fun. We are especially encouraging parents and adults to join club kids in the Electric Slide and line dancing during the Community Dance segment of our New Year's Eve program."

There is no cost to parents and current club members to attend; however any interested young people can attend by joining club membership.

Membership is $15 per person for young people 5-18 years of age and qualifies for a full year of fall, winter and spring after-school program which runs Tuesday through Friday from 3 - 9 p.m. and on Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. during the school year.

During Tuesday's program, kids will have an opportunity to win prizes, participate in Double Dutch Contest, Lip Sync & Karaoke and more!
