Melting Pot-Luck Dinner brings out diverse group

ALLENTOWN - A potluck dinner aimed to bring people with different backgrounds together Wednesday night in Allentown.

Organizers said they wanted to use the common bond of food to help bridge the gap between political, religious, and ideological differences.

The event was organized by "Lehigh Valley for All."

It was dubbed "the Melting Pot-Luck dinner" and was modeled after similar events organized by the American Civil Liberties Union.

“We wanted a way to show that every person is the same no matter what group you're from, and together we can work to weave the tapestry of the community in a way to make it stronger,” said organizer Kathy Harrington.

Organizers say the event had a great turnout and brought multiple groups together.
