Mike Tyson promotes boxing deal at Sands in Bethlehem

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Mike Tyson has signed on the dotted line in Bethlehem.

The Sands Event Center just inked a yearlong deal with the former heavyweight champion's promotion company to broadcast fights every month.

MIke Tyson, two-time heavyweight champion of the world, is putting his muscle and company, "Iron Mike Productions," behind young boxers.

Tyson and the Sands Event Center will host "KO Kings of Tomorrow" on Saturday.

"It's going to be an awesome night of boxing. I'm looking so forward to having the relationship where we are here every month," said Tyson.

Tyson said the details with the Sands Event Center were just finalized for one fight a month. The bouts will feature young up-and-comers from across the region and will be telecast in 150 countries.

Jeff Trainer, owner of the events center, said Tyson will interview the boxers after the bout, and other boxing legends are on board to do commentary.

"Larry Holmes will be here and will be commentating," said Trainer.

Tyson met Holmes in the ring in 1988 for what was billed as "heavyweight history."

Tyson has also established a friendship with Evander Holyfield, years after he bit off his ear. The two former heavyweight champions appear in a make-up spoof for Footlocker.

Over the years, Tyson has seen his share of adversity, from losses to prison time. InĀ  recent years, he's bounced back, appearing in movies like "The Hangover."

He said he now just wants to focus on bringing back boxing, while bringing it to the Sands Event Center.

"There are a lot of exciting boxers out there, I must admit," said Tyson.

The "KO Kings of Tomorrow "starts at 5 p.m. Saturday. You can also watch it on U-Stream.
