Missing elderly man killed in crash in Lower Mount Bethel Twp.

LOWER MOUNT BETHEL TWP., Pa. - The search for a missing 81-year-old Lehigh County man came to a tragic end late Saturday night.

Police say Dale F. Bower of New Tripoli was killed in a crash on Route 611 in Lower Mount Bethel Township just before 11 p.m.

State police issued a silver alert Saturday afternoon after Bower went missing, according to multiple media reports. Alerts describing his vehicle and license plate numbers were displayed along area highways.

Officials say Bower was driving south on Route 611 in his 2013 Ford F-150, the vehicle he was reported missing in, when he lost control going around a curve near Church Road.

His truck hit the oncoming car in a head-on collision.

Bower was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:50 p.m.

The driver of the second vehicle, William M. Bright, 57 of Bangor, was seriously injured. There is no word on his condition.
