Most road restrictions lifted, shelters still active after winter storm
PennDOT and the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission have lifted the restrictions on most interstates in Pennsylvania as the winter storm comes to a close.
The ban on certain commercial vehicles was lifted from I-78 and I-80 as of 6 p.m. Wednesday, in addition to I-81, I-476, I-76, I-380 and I-276.
However, the ban remains in place in northeastern Pennsylvania on I-84.
The ban includes double trailers, RVs and other large, empty tractor-trailers.
As the roads become safe, the American Red Cross is working to keep those in need safe as well.
The Red Cross says around 100 people spent the night in its shelters along with partner shelters in the Poconos.
They provide warm meals, emotional support and a safe place to sleep for those with immediate disaster-caused needs.
Two shelters are currently available in:
Monroe County: Stroudsburg High School, 1100 W. Main St., Stroudsburg
Pike County: Dingman Township V.F.D., 680 Log Tavern Rd., Milford
