Multiple brawls break out at PPL Center following concert

Police reviewing all security footage from area

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - The video is brutal.

Women outside the Spring Break Hip Hop Takeover concert at Allentown's PPL Center in a hair pulling, kicking, flurry of fist fights.

"There were fights up and down 7th Street that the officers had to go from one fight to another and respond and so on," said Allentown's Assistant Police Chief Bill Reinik.

Police say 25 to 30 police officers responded.

Reinik says the majority were already on scene because the department was aware of issues that happened at some of the performers' shows in other cities.

"We did not expect trouble, but we knew it was a possibility that it could occur so that’s why we wanted to get more officers out there on the street around the arena than we usually have for an event," said Reinik.

Police say during the incident 31-year-old Andrew Robles started interfering with an officer who was in the process of arresting one of the brawling women.

Police say Robles refused officers' orders to stand back and while he was being taken into custody, he allegedly punched the arresting officer in the shoulder.

He is now charged with assault.

While video of the riot is going viral on Facebook and Snapchat, Reinik says the department is busy looking at video of its own to piece together what happened and who was involved.

"We also have videos that we are...the body cams of the officers, we have film from around the city cameras as well as the businesses around the PPL center. So we are reviewing everything rather than just snippets and putting everything into consideration," said Reinik.

PPL says it also brought in extra security for the event and everyone went through metal detectors.

69 News contacted the concert promoter who put on the show, LSP Enterprises, about the incident but did not hear back.
