Neighbors react to fatal double shooting in Allentown

Lehigh County coroner confirmed 2 deceased males

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - Two people were killed in a hail of gunfire in Allentown on Tuesday.

The shooting happened just after noon at Fourth and Washington streets.

The Lehigh County coroner told 69 News he was on his way to the hospital around 2:30 p.m. to continue the investigation.

At 3 p.m., an armored vehicle and members of the SWAT team arrived, seemingly focusing their attention on an apartment building across the street from where the shooting happened.

The building manager said police reviewed the building's security cameras and searched the basement.

"They started to check the security footage in the basement and told me to get out," said neighbor Carlos Malavet.

One neighbor told 69 News she was sleeping and woke up when she heard two shots. She said she heard a man in the street who was screaming that he was dying.

"I've never seen something like that in my life," said one man who was at the scene.

He said he heard the shooting and saw the victims lying on the ground.

"The girl tried to move her guy on the ground; a lot of bleeding," he said. "This town was small before, but now it's bigger, more problems."

The Lehigh County coroner confirmed men died in the shooting.
