New Jersey man caught at Lehigh County hotel with 1,200 bags of heroin, police say

HANOVER TWP., Pa. - An undercover drug sting netted state police more than 1,200 bags of heroin at a Lehigh County hotel, police said.

A state police narcotics unit used a confidential informant to make a drug buy as police were investigating drug activity around the Scottish Inn, 1701 Catasauqua Rd., Hanover Township, according to court documents.

The informant contacted Delmarlo Amir Humphrey on Wednesday by text and arranged to buy a quantity of heroin, police said.

Humphrey, 26, of Orange, N.J., told the informant to meet him at the hotel, and gave 20 bags of suspected heroin in exchange for $120, according to documents.

At that time, police arrested Humphrey, who had the marked state police $120, as well as two cell phones and a key to a room at the Scottish Inn.

He told police he was a resident of the hotel and agreed to let officers search the room.

Police said the search turned up 1,209 baggies of suspected heroin, and a presumptive test on the powder was positive. The bags had a red stamp of "True Religion."

Humphrey was charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession with intent to deliver.

He was taken to the Lehigh County Prison after being unable to post $150,000 bail.

At his preliminary hearing April 23, he waived all charges.
