New movie theater to open with full-service restaurant

LOWER MACUNGIE TWP., Pa. - There's a full service cinema coming to the Lehigh Valley.

"We're revolutionizing the way that America watches movies," said Roy Van Horn, the regional director of operations for Movie Tavern.

The new Movie Tavern in Lower Macungie is just days away from opening its doors where movie goers have the option to snack on far more than just popcorn and candy.

"We have a full-service restaurant, full-service bar and chef-inspired menu," said Van Horn.

The cinema chain is known for offering guests full-course meals delivered right to their reclining chairs.

"Everybody's got their own table and you have a button and when you want service, you push that button and the servers will come over to you and they wait on you just like in a normal restaurant," said Van Horn.

With 11 theaters and 1100 seats, running the new theater takes a big team and Movie Tavern is still hiring.

"We're looking for all positions right now. We'll start out at around 250 people that we'll employ in the area and we'll continue to grow," said Van Horn.

The Movie Tavern serves lunch, dinner and brunch on weekends and if you're not in the mood for a flick, you can still come by for the dining experience.

"Our tavern bar is a neighborhood bar and that's what we want it to be," said Van Horn.

And that neighborhood bar is specially decorated in Pennsylvania pride with pictures of actors and movies with Pennsylvania ties covering the walls.

"We're so happy and so proud to be a part of this community up here," said Van Horn.

After more than a year of construction, Movie Tavern opens on Aug. 14.
