New restaurant announced for center city Allentown

Eatery across from new PPL Center plans to open in September

New eatery set for downtown Allentown

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - Folks who head to the new hockey arena in downtown Allentown will have a chance to dine at a brand new venue.

Mayor Ed Pawlowski joined with members of the Center City Investment Corporation Wednesday to announce a new restaurant and lounge at 732 Hamilton Street.

The new venue will be owned and operated by former Shanty owner Donald Saylor and his wife Diane, but the name has not been chosen yet.

It will be located right across the street from the new PPL Center.

The restaurant will seat around 100 people for lunch and dinner, and will serve contemporary American cuisine and cocktails in a setting that pays homage to the 1920s.

Officials said an open kitchen will separate the restaurant and a lounge in the back that can seat 30.

The new eatery is scheduled to open in September.
