NJ Company To Lead Streetscape Improvements Project In Allentown

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - A New Jersey based company has been selected to lead the streetscape improvement project of the city's West End Theatre District.

Middletown, New Jersey based T&M Associates announced Tuesday they have have been selected to provide engineering, landscape architecture, and construction support services for the project.

A release issued by the company said they will be designing the first phase of improvements in the district. This phase will include improvements along West Tilghman and West Allen Streets between 17th and North Lafayette Streets.

Improvements will also be done West Liberty Street between North 17th and North 20th Streets, as well as on North 19th Street between West Tilghman and West Liberty Streets.

Specifically T&M said the project will include ornamental fencing along the north, south and west boundaries of the Fairgrounds, adding street lighting and furniture, as well as replacing handicapped accessible ramps.

"The West End Theatre District Masterplan developed by the City together with the West End Alliance lays out a great vision that will help transform this area of the city into a vibrant, pedestrian-friendly residential neighborhood with excellent cultural, retail and dining opportunities," said Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Gary Dahms. "T&M is excited and honored to have been chosen to partner with the City and the West End Alliance to bring their amazing vision one step closer to reality.

This will be T&M's first time working with Allentown, but the mayor is confident in their ability. "The streetscapes and architecture are a hallmark of the city's 19th Street Theatre District. The plans for their improvements are in solid hands with T&M Associates," said Mayor Ed Pawlowski.

T&M will be working with two Allentown based companies during this project. Arthur A. Swallow Associates will assist the company with land surveying. Also, Brown Design Corporation will be the lead designer for the landscape architecture elements of the project.
