Northampton Co. ordinance to help redevelop blighted properties

Northampton County Council recently passed an ordinance allowing for tax exemption on blighted properties in Upper Mount Bethel Township.

County Executive Lamont McClure says he's grateful to the council for starting the process of "realizing his vision for job creation in the Slate Belt."

Under the ordinance, Northampton County says Upper Mount Bethel Township, Bangor Area School District and the County of Northampton will have authority to lower tax bills of certain blighted properties.
