Northampton County 6 year-old boy creates app

MOORE TWP., Pa. - A Northampton County boy's imagination is taking him on quite a journey. Thanks to what he's created, you can join the adventure.

Six year-old Jack Wagenheim of Moore Township created an app called Happy Travels that's now available for download.

"I'm really happy about it," Jack said.

With help from his parents, Jack created and designed it when he was just five years-old. His dad, Kenn, is a coder and his mom, Sarah, is a graphic designer.

"He worked for four months nonstop. It was at least an hour or two every day that I worked with him on his drawings," said Sarah. "It's amazing to see your child, who's only six, be so dedicated and motivated to finish such a big project."

Kenn said, "Jack had to approve all of the different music for all of the different levels, all of the different sound effects, where everything was placed in the app."

Describing the app, Kenn said, "It's a journey, Jack's journey, through make believe areas that are based on things that he's read about."

"Happy Travels composes of six different books. The first he starts out in the Bermuda Triangle and he's trying to navigate through different kinds of creatures and monsters," he added.

The app also takes you to places like the rain forest, outer space and under water.

"I just like books and so I came up with the idea of all these places," said Jack.

"Right now the big project is to like market it," said the young creator who even has his own business card to hand out promoting the app.

And he is doing just that.

Kenn said, "We've had somewhere over a thousand downloads so far which, for a family project app with no real marketing budget or anything, is pretty good."

"Everybody that plays it says it's the cutest little thing in the world," he added.

"We've looked, but I feel like Jack is the youngest one to actually come up with a concept, carry it out, instruct people how, what to do," said Sarah.

You can download Happy Travels for free through Apple, Google and Amazon.
