Northampton County DA seeks death penalty for woman accused of killing newborn

Authorities say Amanda Hein left newborn in restaurant toilet tank

The woman accused of killing her infant son in a restaurant bathroom should get the death penalty, Northampton County District Attorney John Morganelli said Wednesday.

Morganelli said he filed paperwork to seek the death penalty in the case of Amanda Hein, who stands accused of killing her baby minutes after he was born.

Prosecutors said Hein, 27, of Bethlehem, gave birth in a bathroom stall at Starter's Pub in Lower Saucon Township in August. She then put the baby in a plastic bag and placed him in a toilet tank.
