Northampton DA set to discuss death of Lafayette student

McCrae Williams died Sept. 11 on campus

EASTON, Pa. - The Northampton County District Attorney has called a news conference to discuss the death of a Lafayette College student, who died after sustaining a head injury on campus.

District Attorney John Morganelli will discuss the death of 19-year-old McCrae Williams during a 3 p.m. news conference in Easton. Morganell will be joined by a representative of the Easton Police Department.

Easton police said Lafayette officials responded Sunday afternoon to a medical call for a student outside Ruef Hall North.

Williams, of Weston, Mass., fell and suffered a head injury outside his dorm and later died at the hospital from a head injury.

Investigators said they believe the medical emergency stemmed from a series of incidents starting about two days before his death. Authorities are investigating whether alcohol played a role.

The news conference will be streamed live on WFMZ.com. Tune into 69News at 4 p.m., 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. for more on the story.
