NY man pleads guilty to assault after nightclub incident

Attempted homicide charges dropped against Trevor Leebing.

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - A New York man is headed to jail after he entered a plea Friday in connection with an incident at an Allentown nightclub last year.

Thirty-two-year-old Trevor Leebing pleaded guilty to assault, just before his trial was set to start in Lehigh County.

Police said Leebing was kicked out of the Catch 22 nightclub at Fourth and Hamilton streets in April of 2013, then made his way back into the club and tried to shoot a bouncer in the head. His gun malfunctioned.

Leebing was facing multiple charges including attempted homicide, aggravated assault, simple assault and recklessly endangering another person.

All of those charges were dropped in exchange for his guilty plea, officials said.

He was sentenced to serve four to 12 years in prison.
