PALMER TWP., Pa. - Forty percent of the Palmer Township Board of Supervisors were disguised as empty chairs during Tuesday night's meeting.
President David Colver and Supervisor Robert Smith were absent from the proceedings, which saw the board vote 3-0 on four separate items, the most noteworthy was the termination of the Neighborhood Improvement Zone litigation in the wake of the Pennsylvania Legislature's recent decision regarding the Earned Income Tax.
"I wish Allentown a lot of success with the project," said Supervisor Robert Lammi. "We were never against the arena."
In other business, it was reported from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation that road work on Route 248 will be extended two to four weeks beyond the end of September, the original date of completion, according to township officials. The delay was anointed to time it will take PennDOT to replace median strips and additional shoulder work on the highway.
