Pedestrian Struck By Vehicle, Seriously Injured

UPPER MACUNGIE TWP., Pa. - A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle and seriously injured Tuesday evening, police said.

Emergency crews responded around 5:45 to Tilghman Street and Blue Barn Road in Upper Macungie Township, Lehigh County.

A 14-year-old boy from the Allentown area was walking between cars stopped at the traffic light when he was hit by an SUV, police tell 69 News. The boy was not crossing in a designated crosswalk.

He was rushed to Lehigh Valley Hospital with serious injuries.

A black SUV has dents on its passenger side from the crash, a 69 News crew reported from the scene.

The driver of the SUV is from Whitehall but his identity is not being released, police said. There's no word on whether he'll face charges as the investigation is still on-going.

Traffic on Tilghman Street was reduced to one lane of traffic in each direction between Blue Barn and Ruppsville roads, that's near the Kuhnsville area, west of the Route 22 and I-78 split.

Police say the investigation is continuing but they did re-open all lanes of traffic on Tilghman Street just before 8:00.
