Pen Argyl School District to arm its security officers

PEN ARGYL, Pa. - Pen Argyl School District has decided to have one armed security officer in each of its three schools.

This comes after the recent school shooting in Parkland, Florida that left 17 students and staff members dead.

The district says this move will be implemented Monday and it has hired Camelot Security to provide an additional layer of safety. It says Camelot is a 'respected and trusted security firm that the district has used for years at sporting events, dances and other functions.'

Pen Argyl School District says this is a proactive approach to ensure its buildings remain a 'safe and healthy environment for our students and staff.'
