Pa. Supreme Court: Ballard's death sentences will stand

HARRISBURG, Pa. - Pennsylvania's highest court has denied an appeal filed by mass murderer Michael Ballard.

Ballard received four death sentences in 2011, one for each of the victims he admitted to killing inside a home in Northampton, Northampton Co.

Earlier this year, Ballard's attorneys appealed the sentence, arguing that several aspects of his trial were not handled fairly.

The state Supreme Court issued its ruling Thursday, denying the appeal. The court said the sentences are supported by overwhelming evidence against Ballard.
