Person hit, killed by train in Emmaus accident

Train kills man in Emmaus

EMMAUS, Pa. - An Emmaus man died when he was hit by a train Monday afternoon.

Mark Schwartz, 41, of the 1200 block of Minor Street, died accidentally from injuries he sustained when he was hit by a train, Lehigh County Coroner Scott Grim said.

Police and emergency crews were called around 4:30 p.m. Monday to the area of the 1200 block of Chestnut Street in Emmaus, Lehigh Co. That's near the Weis grocery store.

Schwartz, Grim said, was hit by the train while trying to cross the tracks.

The police department said its investigation is still ongoing.

It's unclear yet how the accident happened.
