Plans for 8th Street bridge in Allentown move forward

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - PennDOT is planning for a major construction project in Allentown.

Officials said they'll be putting the 8th Street bridge rehabilitation project out to bid sometime in early 2014. Construction will start later that year.

PennDOT said it will try to keep one lane of the bridge open during construction, but if that doesn't work, both lanes will have to be closed.

The project is expected to take two to three years to complete.
