Police allege drug suspect threatened witness in case

Tells source: 'Got a bullet with your name on it'

EASTON, Pa. - Authorities allege that the target of a drug investigation in Easton threatened a witness in the case against him.

Easton police charged Ishmael Rogers, of the 1400 block of Northampton Street, with a felony count of retaliation against a witness and a misdemeanor count of terroristic threats. He was arrested Monday on an outstanding warrant and arraigned later that night by District Judge Dan Corpora, who set bail at $20,000.

Easton police first arrested the 19-year-old in July, charging him with single felony counts of possession with intent to deliver and criminal use of a communication device. He was arraigned July 27 and sent to Northampton County Prison after failing to post $75,000 bail. He was released Oct. 13 after his bail was reduced to unsecured.

On Sunday, Rogers reportedly spotted the victim and confidential source in the area of Fourth and Northampton streets in Easton, according to court records. He allegedly yelled across the street, “I am going to (expletive) you up, and I got a bullet with your name on it, I know what you’re about,” according to court records.

Investigators said the victim is a witness in a drug investigation in which Rogers was the target. During an earlier interview with authorities, Rogers allegedly told detectives that he knew “who set him up” and named the source.

An arrest warrant for Rogers was signed by a judge on Monday after police spoke with the victim.

Rogers failed to post bail and was sent to Northampton County Prison to await a preliminary hearing scheduled for Nov. 3 on the witness intimidation charge. He’s also scheduled to be formally arraigned Nov. 21 on the drug charges.
