Police allege pair beats woman, steals her phone

Each had an outstanding arrest warrant

SALISBURY TWP., Pa. - Authorities allege that a Northampton County pair sent a woman to the hospital after stealing her cell phone.

Katrina Pantuso and Kevin O’Neill, both of 6000 block of Weaversville Road in East Allen Township, face assault and drug charges after the fracas Wednesday afternoon in Salisbury Township. District Judge Michael Faulkner arraigned the pair later that night, setting bail for the 26-year-old Pantuso at $50,000 and at $25,000 for the 48-year-old O’Neill.

Salisbury Township police were dispatched to the 1700 block of East Emaus Avenue for a report of a fight between a man and woman. While en route, police learned the woman was bleeding from the nose. When officers arrived, they found two people allegedly assaulting the victim.

The victim told officers that Pantuso had climbed into her house through a bedroom window and stole her Samsung Galaxy cell phone, according to court records. She alleged that Pantuso and O’Neill assaulted her after she confronted them about being in her house.

According to the criminal complaint against O’Neill, the victim told police that he was hired by her landlord to perform some handiwork, and that they began arguing about him being at the house. Court records do not offer any detail about the argument.

She alleged that O’Neill struck her in the face with his hands and knees. Police said the victim sustained a bloody nose and bruised, swollen eyes.

After authorities apprehended the pair, police searched Pantuso’s purse and allegedly found the stolen phone and several hypodermic needles. Police said they found a baggie of methamphetamine in O’Neill’s pants pocket.

Police also discovered an outstanding arrest warrant for O’Neill out of Carbon County and for Pantuso out of Warren County, New Jersey.

Court records list the same address for the pair, but do not specify the nature of their relationship.

Police charged Pantuso with burglary, receiving stolen property, simple assault and possession of drug paraphernalia. O’Neill faces aggravated assault, simple assault, possession of a controlled substance and harassment charges.

Neither posted bail and were sent to Lehigh County Jail to await preliminary hearings scheduled for June 14.
