Woman poisons burritos, feeds them to family, police say

LOWER MACUNGIE TWP., Pa. - A Lehigh County woman is behind bars for allegedly poisoning burritos and feeding them to her family.

Ann Marie Haines cooked up the meal Tuesday night inside her home on Yorkshire Drive in Lower Macungie Township because her husband and daughter didn't invite her to go along on a car shopping trip, police said.

Investigators said Haines crushed up some sort of medication and put it into the burritos, which she then fed to her husband and daughter. They reportedly felt dizzy and tired and had to be taken to the hospital to be checked out.

When Haines' husband confronted her about the food, she became aggressive and told him she would harm them when they went to sleep, according to court documents.

Haines, 41, was charged with simple assault, recklessly endangering another person and harassment. She was committed to the Lehigh County Prison on $25,000 bail.
