Police charge 25-year-old in playground fight with teen

BATH, Pa. - Authorities in Northampton County charged a 25-year-old with assault after allegedly getting into a playground scrap with a teenage boy.

The Colonial Regional Police Department charged Max Hoffman, of Wolf Street in Bath, with simple assault, harassment and disorderly conduct in connection to the Aug. 8 scuffle in the borough. Police said in a news release issued Tuesday that they charged the 25-year-old via a summons.

Authorities said the incident happened on the George Wolf Elementary School playground in the 300 block of Allen Street in Bath about 3 p.m. Aug. 9. Hoffman was riding a motorized scooter around the playground, when he allegedly confonted the 14-year-old and his two friends.

Hoffman and the teen "exchanged words" before exchanding blows. Police said the 14-year-old suffered a broken hand.

Authorities do not indicate in their news release why the two began arguing.
