Police investigate armed robbery in South Allentown

They seek suspect who produced a gun, robbed two pedestrians

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - Two pedestrians were robbed at gunpoint early Thursday afternoon in south Allentown.

The robbery happened at 12:30 p.m. at Lehigh and Cumberland streets.

A male suspect approached the pedestrians near the Hess gas station and asked to borrow their phones but they refused, said Allentown Police Captain Glen Dorney.

Then the man asked for change and they refused again.

Then he pulled out a handgun and demanded items from them.

Police still are determining what he got, but Dorney said no one was hurt.

He said the male fled on foot and may have gotten into a gray Infiniti G37.

Police describe the suspect as being 5-foot-6 to 5-foot-9 and weighing about 200 plus pounds. He was wearing a red hooded sweatshirt, black shorts and red and black sneakers
