Police: Isaiah Martinez chokes woman, flashes knife

NAZARETH, Pa. - A man flashed a kitchen knife at a woman after an argument turned physical, officials said.

Isaiah M. Martinez displayed the knife after choking the woman and grabbing her arms in his home in the unit block of North Whitfield Street in Nazareth, Northampton Co., at 9:50 p.m. Tuesday, officials said.

The victim was found cowering on a couch in an upstairs room with red marks around her throat and grip marks on her arms, after police heard her whimpering when an angry and agitated Martinez answered the door, officials said.

Martinez, 23, was arraigned early Wednesday morning on assault and harassment charges and committed to the Northampton County Prison on $7,500 bail, according to court documents.

A preliminary hearing is set for 9 a.m. May 15.
