Police kill aggressive dog in Allentown

Large dog was attacking smaller dog.

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - Police in Allentown were forced to shoot a large dog that was attacking another dog Wednesday.

According to Asst. Police Chief Jorge Medero, officers were called to the rear of a home in the 600 block of Gordon Street around 5 p.m., where a large stray dog was attacking a smaller one.

After attempts to Taser the dog didn't stop the attack, police were left with no other optionsĀ  than to shoot the stray.

The dog died from the shooting, and the smaller dog died of injuries from the attack.

The breeds of the dogs were not known.

Medero said no charges are being filed, as no one has claimed ownership of the larger dog.
