Police: Man twice beats girlfriend after arguments

He allegedly beat her unconscious, strangled her

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - An Allentown man is facing assault charges for allegedly twice beating his girlfriend during arguments that turned violent.

Allentown police charged Kareem Green with a felony count of strangulation and two counts each of simple assault and harassment in connection to the attacks that allegedly occurred in October and early Thursday morning. District Judge Patricia Engler arraigned the 31-year-old late Thursday morning, setting bail on the two sets of charges at a combined $75,000.

In October, police were dispatched to the couple’s North Seventh Street apartment to investigate a domestic dispute with injuries. The victim – Green’s girlfriend – told officers that Green had attacked her over an argument about “inappropriate videos,” according to court records.

Green allegedly punched the victim in the face, straddling her when she fell to her back and continued to punch her in the face until she lost consciousness. When she regained consciousness, he allegedly leaned her over a railing and strangled her. Green reportedly ran from the apartment before police arrived.

Authorities said the victim sustained a bleeding cut to her chin, cuts around her neck and a swollen, red eye.

Officers were dispatched to the same apartment about 6:40 a.m. on Thursday to respond to another a domestic dispute.

This time the victim and Green began arguing after she questioned who was calling him at 6 a.m. As she laid on the couch, he allegedly started punching her in the face. Police said the victim sustained a bloody lip and bruising to her face.

Green failed to post bail and was sent to Lehigh County Jail to await a preliminary hearing scheduled for Jan. 25.
