Police: Standoff near school related to fatal shooting

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - An Allentown elementary school was on lock down Monday morning due to police activity in the neighborhood.

"An hour or so goes by and I see a young black kid come out," neighbor Tony Phillips stated.

Police escorted the man out of a home in the first block of South Carlisle Street.

The ordeal shut down the neighborhood and put Mosser Elementary School on a temporary lock down.

The man taken into custody is wanted in connection with the shooting death of Lionel Blackledge, said police, who did not release his name.

Blackledge, 27, was found dead inside a car in the Cumberland Gardens apartment complex in Allentown after police were dispatched there for a fight.

His death has been ruled a homicide.
