Police: Unknown vehicle causes crash on I-78 in Lower Saucon

LOWER SAUCON TWP., Pa. - A crash occurred on Interstate 78 in Lower Saucon Township, Northampton County, early Wednesday morning. 

It happened around 6:30 a.m. near milepost 69.3, between Route 412 and Route 33.

William Yelland, 33, of Waverly, was driving a large box truck, traveling in the left lane, and Erica Johnson, 31, of Breinigsville, was traveling behind him in her Toyota Camry, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

Police said an unknown vehicle was driving beside Yelland when it swerved into his lane, which caused him to hit the brakes and Johnson to rear-end him.

The unknown vehicle continued on I-78 East while Yelland and Johnson remained on scene, according to police.

Yelland was not injured, however, Johnson reported neck and back pain. She was taken to the hospital, according to police.

Officials said there were no closures in the area and crews cleared the scene around 8:30 a.m.
