Police use drones, dogs in search for missing woman

Audrey Penn last seen Aug. 23 in Salisbury Twp.

SALISBURY TWP., Pa. - An elderly woman with Alzheimer's who disappeared from a Lehigh County nursing home is still missing after weeks of police searching for her.

Salisbury Township police have been scouring the county searching for Audrey Penn, 77, for two weeks now.

They say it's been a tough search because they aren't sure which direction she may have gone, and there are a lot of hazards, like the wooded area, I-78, and the creeks and cornfields.

Tuesday they are combing a wooded area near Fish Hatchery Road, which is close to Woodland Terrace Nursing home.

"Checking and rechecking the area again to see of there are any clues or signs from her disappearance," said Salisbury Township police Sgt. Donald Sabo.

Penn suffers from Alzheimer's disease, and police aren't sure if she walked away or she convinced someone to give her a ride.

"At times she was very coherent and still believed she was a nurse working at a facility in Allentown.  She could easily convince someone to get a ride and go somewhere else," Sabo said.

But Sabo says police are doing all they can to bring her back home safely.

"Today we're doing a foot search.  Just going over areas that we have already have covered but we have used our township drone that has thermal imaging and regular camera systems on it," he said.

Penn is 5 feet 4 inches tall, 190 pounds and was wearing green pants and a green and purple flowered shirt.

The owner of the nursing home is offering a $10,000 reward to anyone who provides information leading to Audrey's safe return.

Anyone with information should call Salisbury police at
