Police: Woman takes $89K from Wind Gap employer

WIND GAP, Pa. - A 50-year-old woman is facing charges of forgery and theft in relation to taking nearly $90,000 from her place of work.

Denise Riker of Pen Argyl, worked for Timeshare Oasis, Inc. in Wind Gap, where she allegedly began taking checks from the business and cashing them in 2015.

Officials were presented with information from the owner of the business, which included spreadsheets and copies of the checks Riker allegedly forged.

Officials say the checks started being taken in October 2015 and ended in September 2017 out of TImeshare's escrow account.

When interviewed, Riker told officials she took a large amount of checks from her place of employment and wasn't sure how much she took or for how long. She admitted to signing the owner's name to the checks, also.

On Feb. 3, officials received an email from the business owner, stating she found more checks Riker took and cashed. In total, officials say Riker cashed $89,337 and forged 46 checks.

Her preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 20.
