Police: Woman's alleged attack on ex-boyfriend with a bug zapper caught on video

Suspect arrested after police viewed video of alleged assault

LOWER NAZARETH TWP., Pa. - A woman was arrested after police saw a video of her allegedly attacking her ex-boyfriend with a tennis racquet-style bug zapper and throwing things at him, officials said.

Christy L. Flyte battered Nicholas J. Yonak with the bug zapper and threw things at him after kicking a metal door and forcing her way into Yonak's apartment at 4349 Newburg Road, Lower Nazareth Twp., Northampton Co., at about 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, officials said.

Yonak made a video of the altercation with his smartphone, and Flyte left after Yonak called police, leaving behind her wallet and a flip-flop, officials said.

Yonak had blood on both forearms and was "shaken and nervous" when he showed the video to police, officials said.

Flyte, 36, of 410B Nazareth Pike, Lower Nazareth Township, was arraigned on charges of assault, harassment and criminal mischief and released on $5,000 unsecured bail, according to court documents.

A preliminary hearing is set for 9 a.m. Sept. 27.
