Power returns for many in LV

Lehigh County power outage

LOWER MACUNGIE TWP., Pa. - The lights are back on for hundreds in the Lehigh Valley following a power outage that affected nearly 2,000 customers and caused traffic back-ups during rush hour.

Approximately 470 remain without power in the area but everyone else has had their power restored, said Joe Nixon of PPL.

An equipment failure caused the power outage and it's proving more difficult to repair than initially thought, said Nixon.

Currently, it is unknown when power will be restored to those still in the dark.

Around 5:30pm Tuesday power went out in the area of Hamilton Boulevard and Route 78.  That's right on the South Whitehall Township - Lower Macungie Township border.

The outage affected traffic lights in the area, causing delays on Hamilton Boulevard.
