Prisoner dies from apparent suicide in Lehigh County Jail

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - A prisoner is dead after apparently committing suicide in Lehigh County Jail, according to officials.

On Saturday, a Lehigh County corrections officer found inmate Trevor Vaden, 21, unresponsive in his cell.

Vaden did not have a cellmate, and was not under any special monitoring precautions, according to county officials.

The officer gave Vaden CPR and paramedics rushed him to Sacred Heart Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Officials say the cause of death is an apparent suicide, however, the coroner will issue a formal cause of death at a later date.

Vaden was taken to the jail on April 20 on a parole violation. His original charge was robbery.
