Pro wrestling to hit the PPL Center

WWE brings live event to Allentown in October.

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - The new PPL Center in downtown Allentown is turning into a sports center.

Besides  being the home of the Philadelphia minor league hockey team, the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, last week Penn State announced it was playing the Drexel Dragons in men's basketball in a December match.

On Tuesday, another sport entered the arena.

PPL Center officials announced that World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) will bring pro wrestling's biggest stars to Allentown for the first-ever live match on Sunday, October 5 at 5 p.m.

"We are excited to host WWE Live for the first-ever live wrestling match at PPL Center as part of our inaugural season of events," said Gunnar Fox, general manager of the PPL Center. "This announcement reaffirms the diverse lineup of events that PPL Center will offer, providing something for everyone."

The match will feature Roman Reigns, Randy Orton, Dolph Ziggler, Intercontinental Champion The Miz and more.

Tickets go on sale Friday, August 15 at 10 a.m. and will be priced at $18, $28, $38, $53 and $98.
