Professor pleads guilty to selling heroin

Tara Bealer sentenced to probation

EASTON, Pa. - A former college professor accused of dealing heroin out of her Northampton County home has learned her fate.

Tara Bealer, 42, pleaded guilty Friday to a single count of possession with intent to deliver. She was then sentenced to probation.

Police said they began investigating after an overdose death at her Nazareth home.

Bealer had been facing more than 80 drug charges.

Bealer taught sociology at East Stroudsburg University and Northampton Community College.

Investigators said they do not believe she sold drugs to students.
