Project 'Keep Hellertown Warm' helps those in need

HELLERTOWN, Pa. - Project 'Keep Hellertown Warm' is helping those in need in the borough.

Donated hats, scarves, and gloves are being strung along a fence near the Saucon Rail Trail next to the borough's Water Street park.

People can take what they need with no questions asked.

"We wanted to make these things available to people without having to go to an aid agency...fear of stigma is a big thing for many people in this community," said Josh Popichak who started the project and runs the community website, Saucon Source.

"The response has been awesome. It's more than I could have hoped for," he said.

Popichak said social media helped spread the word and area businesses are collecting donations. You can find more information about where to donate on the project's Facebook page.
