Public angered by government shutdown

So how are people in our area reacting to the shutdown?

69 News spoke with several folks at the Promenade Shops in Lehigh County.

Among the shoppers we ran into was former New Jersey Governor Jim Florio.

"I think it's something that's irresponsible. The fact of the matter is this is a normal process followed generally, but the Republican majority apparently feels we should superimpose upon it a whole lot of conditions dealing with the affordable car program. That really has nothing to do with it," said Gov. Florio.

"I don't think Congress has the right to interrupt people's lives with holding up legislation which has been approved for three years now. It's time to get off their high horses and pass a funding bill," said Martin Kozlowski of Kutztown.

Several of the people 69 News spoke with are blaming both parties for the shutdown.
