Put your best 'foot' forward on this golf course

Olde Homestead GC debuts FootGolf -- soccer & golf combined

Footgolf at Olde Homestead

NEW TRIPOLI, Pa. - A new sport is sweeping the nation, and now, it has made its way to the Lehigh Valley.

It's called FootGolf, and you can play it at Olde Homestead Golf Club in New Tripoli, Lehigh County.

It's a combination of soccer and golf.

You play by golf rules on a golf course with specially designed holes, but you use a soccer ball and no clubs!

The cups are 21" across, and the goal is to get the ball in the hole with as few kicks as possible. Click here ) to check out the rules.

"It's a lot of fun. It's great exercise. It's family friendly, so you might not play soccer but your kid does or a friend does and everyone can do it. You don't have to take it seriously, you can just have fun, and… it's very affordable, it's a good time," said Justin Smith, General Manager of Olde Homestead.

FootGolf is big in parts of Europe and South America.

It came to the U.S. a few years ago, and Olde Homestead debuted the first FootGolf course in the Lehigh Valley earlier this month.

Olde Homestead modified its short course to accommodate FootGolf, in addition to regular golf.

Each hole on that course now has two different greens, one for FootGolf and the other for regular golf.

A fun part of FootGolf is what you wear.

To play, you're only required to wear a collared shirt and golf attire, but it's encouraged, and required for an official league game, to also wear knee-length argyle socks and a paperboy cap.

For hours and pricing, check out the Olde Homestead website.
