Recent surge in false testimony prompts DA to take action

EASTON, Pa. - Northampton County District Attorney John Morganelli is issuing a warning to the public: Tell the truth in court.

Morganelli held a news conference Monday afternoon to announce that he will be cracking down on those who lie under oath. His action, he said, comes on the heels of a recent surge in false testimony and fraudulent document submissions to the court.

"We promise that we will fully investigate and vigorously prosecute individuals who do not value our system of justice and who believe that they can lie their way through court proceedings," Morganelli said.

The recent instances of perjury have been mostly contained to civil cases, Morganelli said.
