Red Cross to celebrate 100 years in the Lehigh Valley

VIDEO: Red Cross to celebrate 100 years

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - The American Red Cross will officially mark 100 years of service in the Lehigh Valley in late June.

The organization came to the area when the United States entered WWI and ever since, when disasters of any scale hit our area, Red Cross volunteers are there to lend a hand.

Thursday night the organization held a special program to look back at the past 100 years and recognize all of its volunteers and community partners.

“The Red Cross is a volunteer-led organization. Over 90% of our workforce is volunteers. We're looking every day for people who want to get involved and help the community,” said Peter Brown, Executive Director of the Lehigh Valley Bucks Chapter of the Red Cross.
