SOUTH WHITEHALL TWP, Pa. - A 63,000 square-foot building will house an ambulance corps and a medico-legal forensics facility.
Lehigh County officials approved a land lease agreement Wednesday night between the county and Cetronia Ambulance Corps for property at the intersection of Broadway and Parkway roads in South Whitehall Township.
The agreement paves the way for a new building to house a regional center for medical transportation, emergency medical services and county forensic facility.
The new center will replace Cetronia's existing operations center, which was built in 1962.
Cetronia CEO Larry Wiersch said Cetronia first approached Lehigh County with the idea of a shared facility two years ago.
Cetronia is experiencing a significant increase in the demand for mutual aid requests and is preparing for a projected 32 percent increase in 55 years-and-older population in the Lehigh Valley by 2030.
