Rep. Dent promotes Peace Corps to students

A local congressman is helping to promote the Peace Corps.

U.S. Rep. Charlie Dent and members of the Peace Corps talked with students about joining the organization Monday morning.

Faculty and students from Lehigh who formerly served as Peace Corps volunteers also spoke at the event. They said people of any age can volunteer for the program.

The acting director of the Peace Corps said the experience is a training ground like no other.

Pennsylvania ranks 8th nationwide for Peace Corps volunteers, with more than 250 residents currently serving.
