Roof collapses on the front of Allentown homes

Firefighters respond to the 900 block of Armour Street

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - Allentown firefighters responded to a porch roof collapse in the 900 block of Armour Street Tuesday afternoon.

The roof ran along the front of several townhouses in that block. Residents were unable to get out the front of their homes.

Capt. John Christopher of the Allentown Fire Department attributed the collapse to the weight of ice and snow on the roof.

Christopher said initial reports that someone might have been trapped by the collapse turned out to be untrue.

He said firefighters were removing debris from the scene late Tuesday afternoon.
