Saucon Valley teachers reject proposed contract

Proposal was hammered out last month between district and union

LOWER SAUCON TWP., Pa. - Teachers in Saucon Valley School District have rejected a tentative agreement reached in January between the district and their union.

The rank-and-file rejected the deal Monday night, meaning the contract stand-off continues between teachers and the district.

The school board's negotiating team and the Saucon Valley Education Association met Jan. 30 and reached a tentative agreement, with the assistance of a state- appointed mediator.

 The school board and the association have been negotiating a new contract since January 2012, when the old contract expired.
